Photosynthesis is a collection of amateur photographers who all met through attending photography classes arranged by the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

The group formed due the the overwhelming desire to keep the photography collaboration going beyond the Botanical Gardens courses, by way of arranging a photography exhibition in 2010.

The group would not have happened without the encouragement and guidance from David Rann, the professional photographer responsible for running the Botanical Garden courses.
